Within the federal fair use analysis, the recent decision by the Supreme Court relating to Andy Warhol has reignited my initial research into a secondary branch that is being investigated. In this space, I am exploring the conversation the Supreme Court is not having with the 9th Circuit’s decision, Perfect 10 v. Amazon, declaring search engine imagery as transformative fair use, and the writings of Hito Steyrel in relation to deteriotaion of legibility.  My recent solo exhibition, “thumbnail”, examines this by merging thumbnail low-resolution images with painting, collage, multiples, and artificial intelligence as an evidentiary tool. From this space, I am moving forward with the limitation of only utilizing low-resolution imagery as a form of new language within art and law to test the boundaries of technology, art, design, and law.
